STEWARDS OF THE SEA WORKSHOPS

Our Stewards of the Sea citizen science training programme is the first of its kind in Orkney!

Our comprehensive short course will teach you everything you need to know about cetaceans in the seas around Orkney and how to collect survey data so you’ll be able to contribute to OMMRI’s research. You will learn:

  • Which species of porpoises, dolphins and whales can be found in Orkney’s seas
  • How these species are adapted to a marine life
  • How to identify cetaceans
  • How to collect and record scientific data
  • And much, much more!
On completion of the course you will receive a Steward of the Sea certificate and have all the knowledge you need to add to the growing evidence regarding species abundance around our islands.

With Covid restrictions eased, we are now able to offer in-person courses in Kirkwall, as well as online (handy if you live in the outer isles). Find out more and sign up via our eventbrite page.
