BORROW OUR BINOCULARS

Forgot to pack your binoculars before setting off to Orkney? Completed your Stewards of the Sea training but not yet purchased your own set of binoculars? Panic not - OMMRI can help!

In possibly the first scheme of its kind within Scotland, OMMRI is able to offer two pairs of binoculars to borrow via Historic Environment Scotland's Skara Brae Visitor Centre, ensuring residents and visitors alike are able to make the most of their marine wildlife encounters here in Orkney.

Please note that if you also wish to visit Skara Brae, tickets must be purchased in advance and are not available at the door due to Covid restrictions. A ticket is not required for those simply collecting and returning binoculars.

Binoculars are available to book in one hour slots (it's ok to book for 2 or 3 hours if you would like to borrow them for longer) each day, using the form below. The service is offered free of charge to help ensure all members of our community are able to fully enjoy Orkney's environment and participate in citizen science, however we welcome donations to support the ongoing financial costs of maintenance and repair of the equipment.

Whilst managed by OMMRI, our thanks go to both sea-changers, who provided the initial grant to make this programme possible and to Historic Environment Scotland for their on-going support.
